The presence

Tucked away in the city most of our days, it's easy to lose our sense of wonder in the creations of our lord.

Yes sure we, too, are his creations. But these, we take for granted. The human being next door is but another competitor for the limited resources of the land. For wealth. For the materials the world offers. When you see a fellow being, you do not see a wonderful creation - an intelligent, eloquent, growing product of creation, complete with a beating heart. All you see are what he/she wears, what he or she "brings to the table", whether he or she makes you feel good about yourself. Nothing bad about that. But yes we lose our sense of marvel. That's what I'm saying. What we marvel at, day in and out, are man-made shit.

I am guilty of that too. Art, clothes, cars (gawd), ads (lol), homes, bags.....Blah blah blah.

What if we connected ourselves with the very basic creations once again, daily? Perhaps your neighbour's huge home wouldn't look so great and mighty anymore - the ocean is greater and mightier. Your coveted dyson fan would be nothing compared to the winds blowing in my face now (I'm by the beach now!)

I guess I am just afraid. I am slowly but surely walking down the path of consumerism. But deep in me, I know, I know, that there are greater things out there.

Yes I am a living contridiction. It's sad.

NTS: this thought came from wondering why hillsong's songs are all about oceans. (Oceans - No other name; Gracious Tempest; broken vessel) perhaps because the oceans are a great representation of him above. Calm...or full of wrath (lol sometimes)..mighty.

Love,
A twenty-five year old who's still looking for answers
