Blood ties

Sisters. Bound by birth and stuck together for all eternity.
First quarter of our lives we are stuck under the same roof, the next three quarters we will be connected  24/7 via a phone cord. As demonstrated by my mother and her twin.

Reasons why it's a blessing to have a sister

1. You have a friend!
Some sisters aren't the best of friends and I think it's perfectly fine. Sometimes Grace and I aren't on the best of terms yet seeing her makes me feel good. There is a certain peace and calmness I find in constants.

2. You share clothes.
Well this is debatable. It depends on whether said sister is a shopper. Everyone buys some clothes at some point in life right. So there you have it..another completely different style of clothing at your disposal. Dress up, mix it up. I would prefer if she asks first though with my possessive taurean traits and all.

3. You can be the ultimate bitch.
Short of doing the unspeakables...sisters (siblings, rather) can show their worst during fights and expect to make up after. Girls tend to communicate better than boys do, so they sort their thoughts through and make up rather quickly. Boys have a tendency to hole up within themselves. Boys.

4. You can talk about really anything.
An extension from the previous point above, since you two are probably stuck together for life, you can say anything and everything and expect a honest-to-God answer. School work woes, family issues, boy-troubles, bitch-extermination advice. Unless, you decide your sister is too close-minded and things will be awkward after.....

5. She understands.
She gets why you are in a bitch-fit for seemingly no apparent reason. But there is a reason! And she knows it. Because she has been there, every step of the way, hearing about everything that happens. She gets why you bought that 50th pair of shoe, when mom doesn't. Because you need them to run/be taller/match that new outfit! She gets why you are quieter than usual today. She gets why you need a walk alone. She gets that you are gonna be a messy girl forever. Sisters have no secret language, they need not communicate. They just know.

There are many many perks of having a sister.
For those without one, ...a best friend/boyfriend can be one too. The necessary factor is a mutual agreement that both of you are gonna be there for each other for the long haul. I really mean forever.

I'm glad I have many people I'm definitely gonna be in contact with till im old and frail. :-)
Still, fingers crossed. Many of those friends forever i wrote since i was 6 didn't turn out that way. Relationships, whether platonic or romantic, are sustained by hard work. We are all work-in-progresses!
